Microaggression Shock Wristwatch

Idea: A wristwatch that reads your mind and/or predicts your behavior and shocks you to prevent you from doing racist microaggressions. Also: it could also punish you for explicitly racist/sexist/ageist acts (not just microaggressions) and could vary the punishment based on severity; it could be seen as a neutral warning/teaching mechanism for people who aren't familiar with how to behave in certain situations (too old, too dumb, from a different culture, etc.), as opposed to having the vibe of an angry nun smacking you with a ruler

Parental Draft Substitution Movie

Idea: An action movie where an inept Trump-like leader stumbles incompetently into a sci-fi futuristic war and drafts young people into the military, but their ex-military parents strike a deal to go to war in their place. Also: an electromagnetic pulse could render tech obsolete and leave young tech-dependent fighters reliant on older people with more practical skills; questioning the morality of manipulating naive impressionable young men into joining the military; going to war twice for the sake of protecting your adult children could make them feel like it's impossible to earn their parents' respect

Diverse Mall Santa Service

Idea: A service that provides multiple mall Santas of different races, genders, cultures, etc. Also: unique characteristics of the different flavors of Santa, such as an Irish Santa with a red beard and a thick accent that the kids can't understand; kids choosing a race of Santa that they think will give them the most presents or switching Santas if they didn't get the present they wanted the previous Christmas; a SantaBot controlled remotely by someone of the desired race from a call center; this idea must be implemented quickly before DEI goes away

Idea: A physical card available for purchase which allows people who aren't black to say the N-word, such as when singing along with a rap song (but not in anger and not ending with a "hard R"). Also: participation may vary; a shockingly racist slang for a snack food, and whether or not the card will allow you to eat it; paying retroactively; would paying for permission ruin the fun of saying it

Sanctioned Battles With Landlords For Home Ownership

A satirical proposal for a society where disgruntled tenants can (legally) challenge their landlords to a physical battle for ownership of the house or apartment, where if the tenant wins, they own the property outright and do not have to pay rent or a mortgage. The purpose is to discourage landlords from being jerks, to discourage people from choosing to become landlords and to instead create a society based on home ownership (and maybe co-ops), and to encourage physical fitness in tenants. Also: televising battles between landlords and tenants; building houses with 5 foot high ceilings to discourage large tenants who might be able to defeat you in battle from moving in; winning your apartment and then moving out when the water heater breaks and floods the place and you don't want to deal with it

White Privilege Warning App

Idea: An app that monitors what you're doing and uses AI to determine if you're using white privilege or being racist, in which case it alerts you, shocks you, plays a loud tone so the other person can't hear what you're saying, etc. Also: a "boomer collar" which temporarily paralyzes your vocal cords to prevent you from saying offensive things; being forced to use the app as punishment; over-the-top examples of white privilege and an observed incident of blatant racism

Election Trust Issues and Vote Counting Issues

A conversation about elections and how weird it is that the media can call the result of an election with only like 10% of the votes counted. Also: ideas to increase trust in the election results, including a) forcing the media to wait until all of the votes are counted before announcing a result, b) attaching a random number to your ballot so you can enter that number into a web site later to ensure that your vote was counted, and c) forcing politicians to wear logos of their corporate sponsors like NASCAR drivers; hoping for all of the election chaos during the midterm elections (because a Civil War would never be triggered by midterms)

Cultural Translator App

Idea: An app to help you communicate better with other cultures, including translating what other people are saying to you, translating what you want to say (with settings for emotions i.e. calm/passive-aggressive/aggressive, whether you want to appear "cool" or professional, etc.), and listening to what you're saying and warning you in real-time if you're starting to say something stupid or offensive. Also: you could type or speak into the translator; the app would take your identity (race, gender, age, geographic region, etc.) into account when deciding what you should say; a walkthrough of a culturally-translated scenario

Idea: A K-12 school system based on the principles of cryptocurrency, such as blockchain and smart contracts, for the purposes of 1) reducing corruption (because things like test scores would be visible on the blockchain and things like grading systems and reward systems would be pre-defined and visible on smart contracts), 2) eliminating unnecessary middlemen (such as school administrators), 3) enabling innovative parent-student-community participation (such as voting on which classes and extra-curricular activities are available), 4) enabling innovative incentives for students to learn (such as skipping class if you did well on a test, teachers blocking access to kid's streaming video games at home until they do their homework), and 5) familiarizing students with the principles of cryptocurrency to help them prepare for the future economy. Also: blockchain and the danger of "big brother" and social currency scores; an example of a school unfairly changing the rules in the middle of a contest (which could have been prevented by "smart contracts")

Uber Ambulance

Idea: An Uber-like transportation service where the drivers use normal vehicles (i.e. not ambulances) to recklessly speed you to the hospital, for much less cost than a traditional ambulance. Also: a cheaper alternative for less life-threatening injuries; strapping the injured person to the hood so the cops know why you're speeding; euthanasia via Miata

Health Insurance Game Show

Idea: A dark and exploitative game show where poor or jobless contestants compete for basic human needs, such as health insurance, basic income, or citizenship. Also: eliminating taxes for game show winnings because the poor depend on those winnings; the British game show called "Beat the Crusher" where they crush your car if you lose; an idea for a celebrity game show called "Loan Shark Tank" where celebrities break your legs if you lose and can't pay; a jobless future based on building/crafting competition shows like "Forged in Fire" instead of full-time jobs

"Free Business Districts" in Poor Neighborhoods

Idea: Since we have apps which can distribute information to and amongst customers, we don't really need food safety regulations and other government regulations which suffocate small businesses. We could even have "free-for-all" business districts in extremely poor neighborhoods, where residents of that neighborhood are allowed to run businesses out of their homes without obtaining business licenses. The only regulations would be that they'd have to a) prove residency in the neighborhood, b) sign up for the app (which also helps customers find them), and maybe c) display a warning sign indicating that they are an unregulated business

Social Media Post Jail (Reputation Protection App)

Idea: An app to analyze your social media posts after you press the post button, and if the app determines that a post might be passive-aggressive, angry, or harmful to your reputation, it puts the post in "post jail" for a day to force you re-think the post, and then you must confirm that you really want to post it before anyone can see it. Also: friends could review your posts before allowing you to post them; the app would also be useful for interrupting awkward politically-charged in-person conversations

Futuristic Tiny Houses vs. Universal Basic Income

Idea: Tom thinks his futuristic (and cheap) tiny house idea is a better idea than having a "universal basic income", and his futuristic tiny houses would also eliminate house chores, allow you to move instantly without packing your stuff, give you time to pursue your dreams, and even solve infrastructure problems like the Flint Water Crisis. Everybody Must Run For President

Idea: A giant tournament bracket in which everybody in the US runs for president. Each contest in the bracket consists of 8 candidates, and the winner among the 8 candidates advances to the next round. Each voter only votes for one 8-person contest per round. There are 10 rounds in total, and in the final round, everyone votes to determine who of the 8 final candidates becomes president. Also: horrible candidates like Mike Bloomberg might spend a million dollars per voter and still lose in the first round; if more democracy is better democracy, this has to be the best approach

Historical Concept Societies

Idea: To create societies of 100,000+ people who *loosely* live the lifestyle of a historical era (but with flushing toilets), including both the popular culture and the technology of the era. That way, they can make money on tourism, and if a huge global disaster occurs, and we lose all electricity or all computers or something, we have a large supply of people who know how to do stuff using older technology, who can instantly step in to help the rest of the world and prevent mass starvation. Also: the need for more physical leisure activities; as tech advances, there'll be a need for more and more societies based on different levels of technology, which will create more and more jobs
