Survivalist Duel-Use Foods

Ideas (both silly and serious) for foods which have additional practical uses during an apocalypse, such as inflatable bagels as flotation devices, sharp-edged foods as weapons, pop tarts as sticky notes, fruit roll-ups as clothing, etc. Also: Tom's apocalypse stash of greenhouse plastic; the problem of accumulating hair on 100 year spaceship journeys; garbage bags full of used toilet paper can be packed against the walls and used as insulation, which is a similar instinct to how birds use poop to hold together the straw or branches in their nests

Blender Chopper Sink Attachment

Idea: A blender/chopper kitchen gadget that conveniently mounts on the side of a kitchen sink (or is built into it) which allows you to blend, chop, or mix food or wash a small dish, is easy to clean, and doesn't need to be stored. Also: Greag's fear of blenders and the risk of cutting yourself or using it wrong; the importance of convenience when trying to get motivated to do healthy things; complaining about large chunks (broccoli, whole mini tomatoes, etc.) in salads, especially restaurant salads

Meat Gum

Idea (satire): Gum that tastes like meat or a savory, meat-based meal, to help you lose weight, enjoy the taste of foods you'd otherwise be allergic to, etc. Also: brainstorming silly flavors and product names, such as "Gum-A-Petit" and "Bluekake"; combining tomato gum, lettuce gum, and beef gum to create a burger taste; the risk of blowing bubbles with your meat gum and getting attacked by a dog or a bear; using toddlers to manufacture the gum because they don't have the teeth to chew (i.e. steal) the gum; you can leave the gum on a park bench and a deer will come take it (and later die) so you don't have to clean the bench

Stoner's Choice Chili

Idea: Cans of food sold in stores labeled as "Stoner's Choice chili" but actually containing corn or beef stew or other food (but not chili). Also: using trickery to prank your friends and/or profit off of selling unwanted or nearly expired cans; mixing all of the cans of other foods so that it becomes chili; using "Stoner's Choice" as a brand for all sorts of intentionally mislabeled products such as soda, T-shirts, music CDs, pets/pet food, etc; simulating "Stoner's Choice" by wearing a blindfold or augmented reality glasses; discussing weird foods/drinks such as ginger ale, cream soda, and the Jelly Belly "Bean Boozled" game

Idea: An Anthony Bourdain-style travel show where the host goes to grand openings of dollar stores, reviews them, explores the nearby community, and interviews interesting customers. Also: the show could include segments such as taking different types of people (nuns, comedians, etc.) to dollar stores for the first time, comparing generic dollar store brands to name-brand equivalents, taste-testing rare discontinued/experimental foods (such as Monster Energy Cold Brew coffee-flavored energy drink); discussing the major dollar store chains, Buc-ee's, food outlets (which sell nearly expired meats), Wall Drug, Factor meal delivery, grocery pickup/delivery, etc.; YouTuber Andrew Callahan ("All Gas No Brakes" and "Channel 5") and interviewing oddball people

De-Shelled Non-Beaten Eggs Sold in a Bottle

Idea: To sell de-shelled (but not beaten) eggs in a small plastic or glass bottle (like a Sunny D or Snapple bottle) so people don't have to worry about accidentally cracking the shell while making eggs. Also: people are lazy enough to buy de-shelled eggs and might even start associating "shelled eggs" with poor people; putting real eggs in toy plastic egg shells and then ruining a kid's Easter; breaking glass bottles containing eggs and recreating the movie "Die Hard" but with eggs; why Cheryl's mind is blown by chickens

Idea: An app that keeps track of all of your food orders from all apps and allows you to quickly search through them to find a meal to order again. Also: it shouldn't take 300 clicks and a memory puzzle to find a specific dish in food delivery app(s); the hilariousness of kids using apps to order crazy things like 1000 popsicles; combining the food history app with Spotify to recommend foods based on your mood; the creepiness of predictive/AI apps and privacy-violating apps, such as when social media apps figure out women are pregnant before they do; ranting about social media pet peeves

Idea: A restaurant that specializes in White Castle style sliders (which Brandon knows how to cook) and is themed around dirty jokes relating to "sliding into someone's DMs" and sexting, such as "DICK PICKles", ketchup packets labelled as "Sup?", and placemats with people's faces on them so you can get sauce all over them. Also: ordering the food via text using dirty talk and emojis; the wait staff could either "play it straight", talk dirty and use dirty jokes and puns, or act super offended; having a separate room behind a video store style beaded doorway for the more explicitly adult-themed jokes and menu, so normal people and maybe even kids can feel comfortable in the main area of the restaurant

Idea: A product (Mucinex pill, nasal spray, etc.) that gives your phlegm a delicious flavor of your choosing when you have a cold. Idea: A straw to use to suck up popcorn so you don't get butter or salt on your hands. Also: A romantic popcorn straw for two, which might accidentally create a competition for the popcorn that harms the relationship; accessories such as a popcorn shovel, a filter so you don't choke on the popcorn when sucking it through the straw, etc.; a popcorn straw helmet, which might cause the people sitting behind you to steal your popcorn

Idea: A buffet where you order your food by watching a live video feed (while you're at a drive-thru or using an app) and telling a worker who's at the buffet what foods to grab. Also: using robots to scoop the food and/or deliver the food; having it count calories as they scoop, and using the remote buffet for all of your meals to ensure portion control to lose weight; drive-thru liquor stores using "growlers" and other refillable containers to buy the exact quantity of alcohol that you want; an embarrassing childhood buffet incident at Ponderosa Steakhouse

Drive-Thru Buffet

Idea: A drive-thru buffet where your car sits on a moving track inside a building (like an automatic car wash), you stick your arm out the car window and grab food as your car slowly moves by the buffet tables, and your car (with you and the food inside) is weighed to see how much food you grabbed to determine how much to charge you. Also: backing up and crashing if you missed a food that you want; "coal rolling" to pepper the food with exhaust; tweaks to make the idea a little more practical, like standing next to the car as it moves through the buffet to better reach the food, or a redesign where the car is parked next to a round rotating buffet

Idea: An app that can quickly get a list of foods in your house and find recipes that can be made using those foods, including serious recipes, recipes that are a fusion of different types of cuisine, and even weird life-hack-style recipes. Also: using your phone to scan your cupboards to get the available ingredient list, including estimates of how much of the ingredient you have left and expiration dates; finding recipes where you need one or two additional ingredients before you go grocery shopping and putting them on your shopping list; fake meats and the "deepfaking of food"; futuristic food printers and how they could replicate the annoyances of modern-day inkjet printers

AI Restaurant Picker App

Idea: An app that each member of a group who're gonna eat together have on their phone, which collects everyone's food preferences, dietary restrictions, restaurant ratings, recent food orders, etc. and uses AI, randomization, info from restaurants (possibly even real-time info, like how busy they are), etc. to pick a restaurant to eat at or order from. Also: avoiding the age-old stalemate of "where do you wanna go", "I don't know, where do you wanna go"; having the app pick the restaurant could prevent people from assigning toxic blame to each other if the restaurant sucks, because it's not their fault, it's the app's fault; keeping track of how often a restaurant which is more preferred by one person than another is picked, to balance things out; showing bullet points of the reasons why a particular restaurant is picked (maybe one out of a group of ten is a vegan), and allowing you to choose to exclude a particular reason and retry picking a restaurant; including custom criteria like time, cost, etc.

Calorie Counting Device

Idea: A wearable device, like an Apple Watch or patch, that is somehow able to count the calories of the food you eat without any effort on your part, because keeping a food diary, even with an app, is annoying and time consuming. Also: using a combination of sensors and devices to estimate your calorie intake, including the Apple Watch to measure your blood sugar, some sort of implantable device in your stomach or nasal cavity, and a smart toilet to weigh and/or analyze your poop; using a "buttprint" or your DNA to automatically figure out who's using the toilet; an embarrassingly lazy way to count calories

Alcohol Test Probe

Idea: A portable test probe to test alcohol at bars for alcohol percentage, accuracy of ingredients, hygiene, etc. Also: using the test probe for other things, such as to test people for STDs; bars might get rowdier if bartenders can no longer get away with watering down drinks; helping prevent people from accidentally drinking drinks which contain more alcohol than they expected; calculating how much of the drink you can consume and still be sober enough to drive in 3 hours

Food Tape

Idea: An edible flavorless tape that you wrap around messy food (such as a chili dog) and eat with the food so that you don't make a mess. Also: maybe also adding flavors, so you can wrap gross vegetables to make them taste like bacon or enjoy holiday-themed flavors such as candy cane or Santa (?!?); using the tape to make other things edible and delicious, such as food packaging and hair removal strips; risks such as the tape sticking to the inside of your throat or causing flies to stick to your food

Ice Cream Headache Machine

Idea: A machine which is surgically implanted into your nasal cavity that detects the smell of candy or other unhealthy foods and then rapidly cools down to intentionally give you an "ice cream headache" (aka "brain freeze") to punish you and dissuade you from eating the unhealthy food. Also: its battery could be charged by a wind turbine in your nostril; you could put other gadgets up your nose, like an anti-snoring device or a pepper-spray launcher; the humor of watching thin, classy women digging into their noses in public because of this machine

Idea: To train birds to eat the worms off of plants in a garden on command. Also: using drones to de-worm plants and then feed the worms to birds, which would then become too fat and lazy to fly; using the same trained birds to eat head lice off of people's heads; an anti-dandelion conspiracy theory
